What is TCTSY, and how is it different?
Developed at the Justice Resource Institute's (JRI) Trauma Center in Brookline, Massachusetts, Trauma Center Trauma-Sensitive Yoga (TCTSY) is a program of the Center for Trauma and Embodiment at Justice Resource Institute.
TCTSY is an empirically validated, clinical intervention for complex trauma or chronic, treatment-resistant post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD). TCTSY is the only evidence-based Trauma Sensitive Yoga practice used as an adjunctive to psychotherapy for treatment of complex trauma.
The TCTSY program qualified for inclusion in the National Registry of Evidence-based Programs and Practices (NREPP) database published by the Substance Abuse and Mental Health Services Administration (SAMHSA).
TCTSY was founded on three Underpinnings:
Attachment Theory
Neuroscience
Trauma Theory & Research
...and five Core Elements:
Non-Coercion
Choice-Making
Invitational Language
Interoception
Shared Authentic Experience
*Offerings of TCTSY through Stillness and Strength Yoga are not intended to be a replacement for mental health services; moreso adjunct/in addition to/supportive of current mental health services and/or chosen support teams
